The Spark: Early Years

2013–2020 · Where it started

  1. 2013–2020

    Where it started

Ages 2–8: it wasn’t just toys; it was a fixation. Hot Wheels, Disney Cars on loop. Lightning McQueen became the blueprint for the dream. By 8, the drive to get on track was there. Then COVID-19 in 2020 stalled the dream just as he was ready to start.

  3. September 2022

    The Breakthrough

Broke through to BIKC Regionals. Coventry pre-final: contact while fighting at the front, finished P10. A hard lesson in racecraft.

  4. Time for the bigger stage

Tough local round. No regional ticket, and the decision: time to step up to the bigger stage.

    June 2026
  8. Work Experience

Four days in July at Wakefield Indoor Karting, his local track. Max helped with general kart maintenance, keeping the karts running safely and efficiently. The experience gave him an insight into how regular maintenance improves performance and reliability, and the chance to develop practical skills and work as part of a team.

  9. Midland Karting Main Champs Round 5 P4

After a great practice, I was ready for the next rounds.

Unlucky for me, I moved from P2 to P6 for qualifying and Heat 1.

In Heat 2 I moved to P4 ready for the final.

A mistaken black flag whilst I was fighting for P3 had me heading for the pits and into P8 after the first few laps. I fought my way back to P4.

    August 2026
  10. GYG Club100 Round 6 B Final - P26

A mixture of emotions after landing in P26 to start in the B final. I managed to work my way 16 positions through the pack into P10 by the last few remaining laps, only to be pushed off the track as a racer drove across me, resulting in my final position of P26.

A hard lesson, but I know I can do it and I'm proud of being able to set my pace and to overtake successfully without losing my nerve.

    August 2026
  11. Club100 PFI Round 6

B Final P5. After a great day of testing in the wet on Saturday, Sunday's race day was a dry track, the complete opposite of what I had tested in. The kart had no oomph during qualifying, but I still set decent times, just not fast enough for the A Final. In the B Final, after a false start, I stayed composed and moved from P6 to P4 while fighting for P3. On the last apex I took a risky move and the driver behind got through, leaving me in P5.

    September 2026
  12. Midland Karting Main Champs Round 7 P1 · Fastest lap

Fastest lap of the final. Final P4. Super Series track and reverse track. An incredible start in practice, sitting comfortably in first with a rapid kart. Qualified in first with the fastest lap. In Heat 1 I clipped the wall and smashed into the tyre wall, spraying water across a dry track, and the driver behind collided with me. That put me last in P11. In Heat 2 and the final I kept gaining positions, working my way back up the grid to finish P4.
